Second Spring Farms (SSF) takes food safety, recall response, and traceability seriously. While recalls are rare, we maintain clear procedures to protect our community and ensure transparency.
In the Event of a Recall
In the unlikely event that an item included in a kit has been recalled by a wholesaler, distributor, or farmer, the following actions will occur:
1. Immediate Identification & Traceability
SSF will promptly identify
- The recalled product
- The affected batch, lot, or delivery date
- Which kits may have contained the item
Our inventory and sourcing records allow us to trace products quickly and accurately.
2. Customer Notification
Customers who may have received the recalled item will be notified as soon as reasonably possible via:
- Email and/or
- Other direct contact methods on file
Notifications will include:
- The name of the recalled product
- Reason for the recall (as provided by the supplier or authority)
- Clear instructions on next steps
3. Disposal & Safety Instructions
Customers will be instructed not to consume the recalled item.
Depending on the recall guidance, customers may be asked to:
- Dispose of the item safely, or
- Return the item to SSF (if applicable and safe to do so)
SSF will never require unsafe handling or transportation of recalled food.
4. Refunds, Credits, or Replacements
For recalled items, SSF will provide one of the following, at our discretion:
- A refund for the affected item
- A credit toward a future kit
- A replacement item (when available and appropriate)
Refunds or credits apply only to the recalled item, not the entire kit, unless the recall materially impacts the usability or safety of the kit as a whole.
5. No-Fault Assurance
Recalls are a supply-chain issue and not the fault of the customer. SSF does not penalize customers for recall-related refunds or credits.
Returns Policy for Recall Events
Returns are not required unless explicitly requested by SSF and deemed safe to do so. In most cases, customers will be instructed to dispose of the item rather than return it.
Commitment to Continuous Improvement
SSF reviews all recall events to:
- Improve sourcing and supplier vetting
- Strengthen traceability systems
- Reduce future risk
Food safety is non-negotiable, and transparency is a core value of our organization.
Public Recall Transparency
SSF believes transparency is a critical part of food safety, particularly for individuals with autoimmune conditions, allergies, or other health concerns.
In addition to direct customer notifications, SSF maintains a publicly accessible Recall & Safety Notice page on our website.
Safety and Recall Notice Page
This page will include:
- A list of current recalls affecting SSF kits
- Past recalls for reference and accountability
- The name of the affected product
- The date of the recall
- A brief description of the issue (as provided by the supplier or authority)
- The actions taken by SSF
This page is updated promptly when recalls occur and remains available for ongoing review.
Purpose and Use
The Recall & Safety Notice page is intended to:
- Provide an additional layer of transparency
- Allow customers to independently verify recall information
- Support informed decision-making for individuals with heightened health risks
The absence of a product from the recall list indicates that SSF has not been notified of any recall affecting that item at the time of posting.
SSF encourages customers with specific medical or dietary concerns to review the Recall & Safety Notice page regularly as part of their personal food safety planning.
